建立科研图像数据集中避免版权问题的技巧

I recently meet a problem regarding copyright issues of using Internet images. The journal office requires me to get written permission from copyright owners for every image that appeared in the paper. This is a very big job to do and needs to carefully trace each image source and get contact with their original owner. After several weeks contacting, I almost finished that work and I will replace other images that I haven’t got a reply from owners or I can’t find the original owner.

During this time, I found a very powerful tip of avoiding such copyright issues in future research. Google image search has a tool to search within those images which allow academic usages. If we have this function enabled in the future, that might save us a lot of effort. Flickr has similar functions.
